Last week the ‘Eat Like a Champ’ team and Helen Skelton from BBC’s Blue Peter came into school to talk to Year 5 about healthy eating.
Here’s what happened:
‘We tasted lots of healthy fruit and vegetables that we hadn’t tried before such as apricots, celery and cherry tomatoes. Often we didn’t like the taste at first but the more we tried the more we liked them.
We drank water flavoured with real lime, mint and cucumber and had to try them with our eyes closed to see if we could recognise the flavour.
We also did an art activity and made resolutions to try healthy foods and be more active. Helen Skelton told us about the Sport Relief challenges she had done, kayaking down the Amazon and tightrope walking across Battersea Power Station.
We talked about how you need determination, practise and a healthy diet and exercise to reach your goals.’
