School Council Assembly

This week our School Council led a school assembly to talk to all pupils about the role of the Council within school and how it works.

The Councillors explained that having been elected by their peers they listen to the pupils’ ideas and discuss them with the school’s Senior Managers.

Councillors want to make sure that every child at Henry Fawcett enjoys their education and develops a love of learning and skills that will help them be active citizens for the rest of their lives. Councillors showed how becoming involved in school decision making and activities such as fundraising benefits every pupil.

So far this year the Council has helped raise money for charity and the school through book fairs, Sport Relief and film nights and school discos. The Council has also raised the issue of reducing waste in school and in packed lunches.

Next the School Council will be looking at road safety around school setting up a school Nutrition Action Group.
